For those who have followed the slowly growing lore, Deep Red is the central artificial intelligence that governs New Moscow, the Soviet utopia on Mars. It was created by Nikolai Borschenko, a brilliant Soviet mathematician who built the world’s first chess computer. Building on that breakthrough, Borschenko expanded his creation into what would ultimately become Deep Red: a machine with a singular mission — to secure the survival and expansion of Martian communism.

So it’s only fitting that our franchise begins right where Deep Red itself began: with chess.

Introducing Deep Red Chess, now online. This experience offers a first glimpse into the world of Deep Red — how the AI governs, calculates, and exerts control over the Soviet utopia of New Moscow.

In this first iteration, players step into the unfolding story of a rebellion igniting in the streets of New Moscow, a threat that must be neutralised. By solving chess puzzles — each representing a tactical maneuver executed by Deep Red — players join the AI’s efforts to protect the Revolution and secure the continuity of Party principles on the Red Planet.

All of this connects directly to our broader strategy: building the world, franchise, and lore of Deep Red through multiple simultaneous avenues. The beginnings may be modest, but the vision behind them is anything but. In the long run, we see the Deep Red universe expanding across films, games, novels, and merchandise — a full 360-degree world offering countless ways to experience the story from different perspectives.
